Zucchini Brownies

Today is my husband's birthday so I wanted to make him something sweet for it.  Brian loves loves brownies so I thought I would give this recipe a go. Now in the past I've made healthy brownies and they were not so good. I remember I made beet brownies once back home and needless to say nobody ate them. These brownies though my friend are bomb! You can't taste the zucchini and it's amazing how there's no flour in it and you can't even tell. This is a must keep recipe and if you're skeptical you have to try it! I promise you won't be disappointed. I'm a sweets kind of girl and I don't feel like I'm missing out at all on these.

Zucchini Brownies
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cup grated zucchini
1/2 cup almond butter
1/2 cup dark chocolate almond butter
1/3 cup honey
1 egg
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp almond extract
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp allspice
1 cup dark chocolate chunks

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Mix all ingredients in bowl except chocolate chunks
Grease a 9x9 pan
Put bowl ingredients in pan then sprinkle the chunks on top
Cook for approximately 20-25 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean

*Side note: The original recipe called for 1 cup of almond butter, I ran out so used the dark chocolate almond butter. I also just love almond extract so decided to half it. Either recipe you use I'm sure you'll love these moist brownies that don't taste healthy!

DIY Dry Erase Calender

I stumbled upon this idea (on pinterest of course) and thought it was so genius. In the past I've made my own calenders but it was for each month and it was time consuming! This calender literally took me about 30 minutes to do. The good thing about this is that you can change how it looks monthly if you wanted to go with the seasons or leave it how it is. Now you aren't wasting paper you use the same glass month after month!

I bought this picture frame at wal-mart for $14.98 and it's frame is 11x14. You can go smaller or bigger depending on how much you plan to write. I wanted a menu side so I bought mine a little bigger.

I the calender strips itself is the paint samples at wal-mart. So while you are purchasing the frame go grab six paint samples you'd like to use. The circles are just punch outs of paper I had as well as my menu paper.

Finished product! Now I have my menu and to do's in the same spot. Dry erase is such a genius idea, I suppose if you have toddlers you want to make sure it's out of reach :)!

10 Must Haves for a New Baby

So we recently just had a very handsome baby boy named Liam a little over a month ago. I saw lists on pinterest that said "10 things you must have" and read every one that I came across. None of them had all the things that were really helpful for me. Thus I'm adding yet one more list of essential items on the internet but mine of course will be what will really help you :). All these items you can find on amazon, that's mostly where I bought everything. Seemed to be the best price out of Target and Babies-R-Us.

    1. Earth Mama Angel Baby bottom spray did wonders! I know it might sound like tmi but trust me
you'll wish you had this after you delivered a baby vaginally. It was such a relief!

   2. Beco Baby Carrier is the one I have and I love it.  I see women walking around with these fabric
things wrapped around and it just looks so confusing. I wear this carrier around the house if little
man is being fussy to get things done or just to take a stroll. Sometimes pushing the stroller places
isn't convenient because of the size.

   3. A Boppy pillow is a must. Sometimes when I'm lazy and I don't want to go upstairs to grab
mine I'll nurse him by just holding him. After the first 2 minutes I wish I hadn't been lazy and just
grabbed it. It makes breastfeeding so much more comfortable for the mom.

   4. Earth Mama Natural Nipple Butter is what I used and seemed to work best for me. Of
course they have all the other all natural lanolin products but this one is my favorite, it's
lanolin free.  It smells  like cocoa butter and you can use it anywhere else that's dry.

   5. Itzbeen Pocket Nanny Baby Care Timer is soooo helpful especially in the first couple
days. This timer has a spot for last diaper change, feeding, sleep and a miscellaneous
button. I use the miscellaneous button for a pumping timer. It also has a little night light on
top in case you need a small light real quick.

   6. Nosefrida the Snotsucker Nasal Aspirator is such a help. The squeeze ones you get from
hospital and the little baby kits didn't do diddly squat for us. This one you actually have
to suck out your little one's boogers...sounds gross, I know. Listen though, it has a filter
the boogers never even come close to your mouth. Trust me, when you hear your little
one breathing weird because his/her nose is all backed up you'll want something to get
   them out!

   7. A breast pump, I happen to have the Medela Pump in Style but any pump will be fine.
My milk was slow to come in so this helped out a ton but I think a breast pump will be
helpful to anyone. I also have a manual pump which I use during long drives or if I want
to stay downstairs and don't feel like getting my pump from upstairs (see a lazy theme
   here).

   8.  Medicine! We used gripe water and Tylenol within the first couple days of him being
born. After his circumcision he was feeling the pain so we gave him Tylenol. As for the
gripe water, our little man is a gassy boy so this helps him out a lot. Either way if your
little one has these problems or not you'll want to have the basic medicines you can give
an infant. You don't want to have to carry a crying baby through wal-mart asking the
pharmacist which one to buy. It's best to have it before hand just in case...

   9. Fisher Price Rock and Play Sleeper is what we have but any co-sleeper will work. We
love this one because of the price and it's simple. It also folds up so when you aren't using
it, it's not taking up so much room. You do not want to be going to your baby's room 2-5
times a night, it's so much easier to grab him/her right next to you.

  10. The Original Zen Swaddle, this bad boy is a weighted swaddle to mimic your touch. To secure it
you use velcro so it's pretty hard for the lad to get out.  Another swaddle we love because of it's size
is the Aden+Anais Muslin swaddle. This is a really large lightweight fabric so it's super breathable
so your baby doesn't overheat and the fabric gets softer the more you wash it. Swaddling definitely
helps our little man sleep longer.
